John Symond AM is that rare businessman - a household name.
Just over 20 years ago John single handedly changed the home loan industry in this country establishing ‘Aussie Home Loans’.
Described in some quarters as “Australia’s Richard Branson”, he had a humble start to life. The son of Lebanese immigrant shop owners and one of seven children, he attended eleven schools. An early business venture nearly ended up in bankruptcy.
A poor experience with a bank motivated him to start his own home loan brokerage that would offer better value for money for everyday Australians. Today, Aussie Home Loans’ portfolio is worth more than $55 billion.
