Engineering services contractor Wood Group Kenny Australia has been awarded a US$6 million contract for work on the Browse floating liquefied natural gas development.
Under the 12 month contract, WGK's Perth office will do all FEED work for the insulated production flowline system, which the company was previously brought in to perform preliminary engineering for.
The company is also notable as the designer of the subsea flowlines for the Shell Prelude FLNG project.
The Browse flowline system will be used in all three of the Brecknock, Calliance, and Torosa offshore fields.
The company’s chief executive Bob MacDonald said the new contract followed a long collaboration with Woodside.
“This new contract is testament to the 30 year relationship Wood Group has with Woodside, which is built on trust and a proven track record of working together effectively and efficiently towards successful value project delivery,” Mr MacDonald said.
“We provide proven expertise and knowledge of the technology required to create a design to withstand Australia’s hash cyclonic offshore environment,” he said referring to the company’s Prelude FLNG experience.
FEED performed by WGK will inform the Browse joint venture in its final investment decision, expected in second half of next year.
