Perth-based online video rental firm Quickflix has entered a licensing agreement with NBCUniversal International Television Distribution for its movie streaming service.
Quickflix announced today it had secured the subscription and transaction rights in Australia for a broad selection of television and films under the NBCUniversal banner.
“We are delighted to have such a high-calibre, major studio such as NBCUniversal on board,” Quickflix chief executive Chris Taylor said.
“Their current output is doing remarkably well at the box office and the depth of their library will add great value to our subscription movie streaming service, which is showing tremendous early traction with consumers.”
Quickflix has already signed up Sony Pictures, Warner Bros, Lakeshore Entertainment, Pinnacle and Content Film to provide content for its streaming video service.
The service is available to Sony Bravia television and Blu-ray player owners, all PC and Mac users and will also be available through the Sony Playstation 3 game console.
