ILUKA Resources chief financial officer Mark Hughes has resigned to take up the executive chairman’s role at privately owned EG Green and Sons, which trades as Harvey Beef.
He will work alongside long serving chief executive Garry Minton.
Mr Hughes joined EG Green’s board last June in a non-executive role, as part of a major restructure designed to modernise the company’s management and governance arrangements.
The restructure resulted in the departure of the last Green family members from the 85-year old company’s management team.
Mr Hughes said his initial focus was to improve the performance of the existing business, including better utilisation of its Harvey abattoir and its Harvey Beef retail brand.
Longer term, the company would assess acquisition opportunities in agribusiness.
Iluka announced that David Grant would be acting chief financial officer.
