There are still three seats in doubt in the Legislative Assembly as the vote count continues this afternoon, with Nationals MP Terry Redman and the Liberal Party WA's own treasury spokesperson at risk of losing their seats.
The six candidates vying for the three remaining seats of Churchlands, Nedlands and Warren-Backwood are still neck and neck, with Churchlands MP and Liberal Party WA treasury spokesman Sean L'Estrange leading by just 63 votes according to the state's Electoral Commission.
Mr Redman, who has held the South-West seat of Warren-Blackwood since 2013, is currently 522 votes behind WA Labor hopeful Jane Kelsbie.
The remaining seat in doubt is the once safe Liberal seat of Nedlands, with Liberal MP Bill Marmion trailing by 422 votes.
This morning, Nationals backbencher Vince Catania was confirmed to have retained his seat of North West Central after surpassing WA Labor candidate Cherie Sibosado.
WA Labor holds at least 50 seats in the lower house following Saturday night's landslide election win, while the Nationals hold 4 and the Liberal Party hold just 2.
WA Labor's enlarged caucus is expected to meet tomorrow morning to discuss internal shuffles and ministerial appointments, following the retirement of Treasurer Ben Wyatt, Emergency Services Minister Fran Logan and Collie-Preston veteran Mick Murray.
Police Minister Michelle Roberts is also tipped to take on a new role as Speaker in the lower house, as is Heritage Minister David Templeman.
During a press conference yesterday, Premier Mark McGowan would not be drawn on whether he himself would serve as treasurer, or whether he would hand the portfolio on to Deputy Premier and Health Minister Roger Cook or Transport Minister Rita Saffioti.
Mr McGowan did, however, allude to the need for 'new blood' in the cabinet just hours before the shock demotion of Housing and Fisheries Minister Peter Tinley yesterday, who is believed to have been sidelined to make way for Perth MP John Carey.
There are expected to be five new appointments after tomorrow's meeting, with Amber-Jade Sanderson, Don Punch, Reece Whitby, John Carey and Tony Buti among those expected to gain ministerial portfolios.
