UnionsThe Construction, Forestry and Maritime Employees Union is Australia's main trade union in building and construction, forestry and furnishing products, maritime/waterside sectors. The union has over 100,000 members across Australia and is regarded as the most militant major player in the industrial relations space.
In 2018, the CFMEU merged with the Maritime Union of Australia to form the CFMMEU. However, in 2023 the Mining and Energy Division withfrew from the union to form its own Mining and Energy Union. The acronym reverted back to CFMEU whic used to represent Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union.
